NGAWANG SANGDROL was imprisoned in Tibet for taking part in political rallies in 1990. While she was serving her prison sentence, she and her colleagues continued protests in prison which led to the extension of her prison sentence several times. She was ultimately released from prison in 2003 and managed to arrive in the United States. She currently lives in Boston.
