The LTWA Governing Body has nine members, with two members representing Ministry of Culture and Ministry of External Affairs of Government of India. His Holiness the Dalai Lama remained as Chairman till 2015 and is now the Chief Patron. The remaining seven members are appointed by the Board in consultation with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. This board directs policy and provides advice and guidance towards overall developments including major projects and initiatives. The responsibilities of the Administration Department include: the general management of the institute; personnel matters; fiscal, accounting and budgetary operations; security; accommodation, building maintenance and construction, if any; computer and information services; printing and reproduction services, registration of scholars and students, etc. The Department also oversees organization of seminars, conferences, workshops and training, both international and local.
In an effort to share its academic and cultural activities the LTWA in recent years has signed Memorandums of Understanding with several international academic institutions. The growth and diversification of the LTWA collections and its activities reflect the institute’s profound commitment to its aims and objectives.
