The 15th ETSI International Translation Conference on Standardizing Scientific Terms in Tibetan began today, November 22, with participants from seven academic institutions – DoE of the Central Tibetan Administration, Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, Varanasi, Drepung Loseling, Drepung Gomang, Gaden Jangtse and Emory University. The eight-day conference will standardize science and social science terms in Tibetan that ETSI resident translators have created. The development of scientific lexical in Tibetan has been an essential component of ETSI’s work. Here are a couple of pictures from day 1 of the conference.
