Newly constructed four-storey Sager Science Centre at LTWA was inaugurated by Ven. Karma Gelek Yuthok, Honourable Minister of Religion and Culture, CTA in presence of its chief benefactor, Mr. Bobby Sager and his family members, LTWA Director, staff, teachers, students and other guests. A modest function was held to mark the day. In his speech the Minister expressed his profound thankfulness to the sponsors and all those involved in this very significant project and echoed the directives of His Holiness the Dalai Lama on importance of modern science education in monastics besides traditional Buddhist learning.
Though the LTWA has been conducting periodic classes, workshops and other forums in major Tibetan monastic establishments to teach modern science with the help of science educators in India and abroad, the construction of a dedicated science centre would give an impetus in furtherance of the project implementation. The new science centre houses the main office of Science Department of LTWA, classrooms, guestrooms, semi-equipped science lab, washrooms and a storeroom.
